1) SOUNDplay Festival

Performance weekend October 21-26, the Theatre Centre
SOUNDplay is a meeting point for experimentation in new media and sound art pushing the boundaries and encouraging new fusions of image, sound and text. SOUNDplay 2008 includes multi-media performances, installations, workshops and videomusic screenings.
SOUNDplay opens with Darren Copeland's THREE SIDED SQUARE at the TORONTO (new music) MARATHON
September 20th at Yonge-Dundas Square, 2-10pm - and it's FREE!
Copeland's THREE SIDED SQUARE is a sonic portrait of Yonge-Dundas square in which nine Toronto sound artists will create their own compositions based on the soundscape of the Yonge-Dundas area during the TORONTO (new music) MARATHON. The entire event will be web-cast live on www.ckln.fm and is presented by CONTACT contemporary music.
SOUNDplay Installations
Continuing the theme of the Sonic Portrait, this year's SOUNDplay installations each examine a sense of place through sound.

Beginning with John Chowning's eloquent quad works from the 1970's and ending with a cross-border analysis of recent North American elections by Bob Ostertag and Pierre Hébert, the performances of SOUNDplay navigate the terrain between sound art and videomusic and a number of cross-disciplinary spin-offs.

2) CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS / Ecology: Water, Air, Sound
Deadline for Submissions is September 30, 2008

New Adventures in Sound Art invites artists of all ages and nationalities to submit works on the theme Ecology: Water, Air, and/or Sound for consideration in 2009 future programming for the annual Deep Wireless, Sound Travels, and SOUNDplay festivals, produced by New Adventures in Sound Art in Toronto, Canada. Artists may submit works in one or all of the following four categories: 1) Radio Art, 2) Electroacoustic Music, 3) Videomusic and 4) Installation Art. Individual interpretations or variations on the theme - Ecology: Water, Air, Sound - are encouraged.
All submitted works must respond in some way to the theme Ecology: Water, Air, Sound in order to be considered for 2009 NAISA programming

4) ART'S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION on JANUARY 17th, 2009
Art's Birthday, celebrated internationally as the birthday of art, is a day of celebration, experimentation and fun. New Adventures in Sound Art and the Mississauga Office of Arts and Culture will serve up an audio feast in celebration of Art’s Birthday on January 17th. While Mississauga sound and media artists perform at a Mississauga community centre (location TBA), special guests will be beamed in via the Internet from other parts of the world. Bound not by transmission medium, weather or creative genre, Art's Birthday will be a feast of the acoustic imagination. Happy One Million and Forty-Sixth Birthday, Art!

5) DEEP WIRELESS + RADIO WITHOUT BOUNDARIES CONFERENCE 2009
May 1st - 31st, 2009
We are currently planning the upcoming 2009 festival and conference. Deep Wireless is a month-long celebration of radio and transmission art including broadcasts, installations, performances, workshops and the Radio Without Boundaries Conference (May 29-31, 2009). Performances planned for May 9, 29 & 30th with more dates TBA and installations running throughout the month. Featured artists and speakers TBA over the next few months.

New Adventures in Sound Art is a non-profit organization that presents performances and installations spanning the entire spectrum of electroacoustic and experimental sound art. The objectives of NAISA are to foster awareness and understanding through hands-on workshops and demonstrations that teach a new perception of sound as part of its annual programming.
