The NAISA Installation space is a 300 sq.ft. space suitable for sound and media art installations as well as small performances and screenings. It includes a 16' x 16' black space on a raised floor + small storage area and is available to rent by the hour, day, week, or 2-week period. Preferred pricing is available for rentals of one week or more in duration.

Standard Rates:

• for workshops/events/installation set-ups: $30/hr (tech person included) 4-hour minimum; $150 per 6-hour day (tech person included)

• for installation exhibits: $300/week, $500/2 weeks

• The NAISA Installation space is bordered with black curtains, has black raised floor, and sloped ceilings (approx 11’ to 14’ at highest) with skylights which can be darkened. One of the curtains can open to a white wall for projections.

• The installation space comes equipped with audio visual equipment including 8 main speakers at ear level + 8 small speakers hung from ceiling grid, a mixer, and projector

• The space is ideally suited to 30 persons or less for a presentation style event. Two small tables and 30 chairs are available for use.

• Two municipal public parking lots are located nearby on St. Clair.

Considerations for use of the space:

• All renters are welcome. Preference will be given to rentals that promote and support sound and media artworks.

• Renter must inform NAISA if they plan to serve alcohol. If so they must secure and deliver to NAISA a Special Occasion Permit from the LCBO prior to the event. If liquor is being served, servers must also be SmartServe certified.

• Renters are responsible for restoring space to its original state at end of rental period.

• Parking is not included with the rental of the facility and anyone who parks on the property may be tagged and towed.

• The renter is solely responsible for the security of their artwork or other valuable items.

Booking and Payment:

New Adventures in Sound Art's rental policy encourages activities that are consistent with our commitment to inclusivity, access and the promotion of sound and media art, environmental health or community well-being. Rentals are not allocated on a first come, first served basis.

• When availability has been confirmed, the installation space will be secured once a deposit of 50% of the rental has been received. The remaining 50% shall be paid on the first day of the booking.

• Space will be held only when the client indicates a clear intention to book, and the client will be called if another request is made prior to receipt of the deposit. The first deposit received gets the booking.

• Bookings must include any time required by the client for setup or cleanup.

• A damage deposit of $150 will be required on all bookings.

Cancellation Policy:

• There will be 100% refund of the deposit if the booking is cancelled 30 days or more before the date of the event, or before the first date of booking of a multiple event (a two week show or weekly classes, for example.)

• There will be a 50% refund of the deposit if the booking is cancelled less than 30 days but more than 14 days in advance of the event or first date.

• There will be no refund for bookings cancelled within two weeks (14 days) of the event or first date.

Compliance with the Law:

• Events must not break any laws, including local by-laws about smoking and noise.

• Events must not violate the Ontario Human Rights Code.

• Renter must ensure that the occupancy does not exceed 30 people

• Failure to comply with these terms may negatively affect ability of individual or organization to rent in the future.
