presented by New Adventures in Sound Art

"Transmissions sans Frontières" is about transcending boundaries -- boundaries between art forms, boundaries between countries, boundaries between public and community broadcasting. It will encourage us to think of the airspace we all share, and how we can make the airwaves resonate with new voices and new ways of presenting ideas."

New TSF coverage at Transom.org

If you can't attend the conference, you can still enjoy it thanks to our good friends at transom.org. They've sent Transom friend Benjamin Walker up to Canada to be our be your ears and eyes. He'll file reports, post links to audio, and try to answer your questions along with the organizing team from New Adventures in Sound Art. "Transmissions sans Frontières" will bring together innovative radio people from several countries, several disciplines, and from across public radio, state radio, and community radio. Sessions will be divided between listening to programming that pushes the boundaries of radio broadcasting, and discussion sessions that explore how our institutions shape the radio that we hear.

Registration for this conference is open to anyone. We hope that this will encourage a diversity of voices and viewpoints, and allow each of us to examine radio in new and adventurous ways.

"Transmission sans Frontières" workshops and listening sessions will happen during the day on Saturday May 24th and Sunday May 25th.

As well as daytime weekend workshops, registration includes admission to two very special performances on the evenings of Friday May 23nd and Saturday May 24th. These will take place at the fabulous Rivoli, as part of the Deep Wireless festival.
